Verify a player's Game ID
A Game ID is the Steam64 or EOS ID of a user. It does nothing in your organization until it is verified, and there are two ways to get there.
What to tell your players
Section titled “What to tell your players”Ask each player to open the profile menu → Account and find Game accounts on the Profile page.
- Steam players click Connect Steam and sign in on Steam. Heliana proves the Steam64 ID is theirs, so it counts as verified in every organization at once, including organizations created later. No admin step is needed. To remove it they click Disconnect.
- Epic Games Store players have no Steam64 ID. They pick EOS, enter the ID and click Save game ID; to replace it later they click Change game ID. An admin has to verify it in each organization.
Steam64 IDs cannot be typed in by hand. Connecting Steam removes every claim other accounts made by hand on any ID of the same player, EOS included, together with their verifications, and each removal is written to the Audit log. Once a player’s Steam is connected, the player’s page shows only that account, and other accounts cannot be verified or unverified for the player. A Steam64 ID that one account has already connected cannot be connected by another.
Verify an EOS ID
Section titled “Verify an EOS ID”- On the player’s page, click Verify. Verifying needs the
player:linkpermission. - To take the confirmation back, click Unverify.
- Verification applies only in your organization. Several accounts can claim the same ID, and the verification decides whose it is here, unless the player’s Steam is connected.
- A Steam ID connected through Connect Steam shows Verified via Steam on the player’s page. It has no Verify or Unverify, and only the user can remove it with Disconnect.
- When a user changes their Game ID, verification is reset in every organization.
- Verify, Unverify, the reset, a Steam disconnect and a claim removed by a Steam connection are written to the Audit log.
What needs a verified Game ID
Section titled “What needs a verified Game ID”A Steam ID connected with Connect Steam is verified everywhere. An EOS ID needs an admin.
- A Patreon patron receiving entries — see Patreon.
- A Discord guild role — see Discord roles.
- A seeder earning an entry — see Reward seeders.
- A list leader adding someone by Discord username — see Access lists & list leaders.
Changing the ID does not move entries. Manual entries stay on the old identity; entries from a source are recalculated by the sync after the new ID is verified.
